It’s Friday night!
I always look forward to Friday night, for the obvious reasons of saying goodbye to a long week and hello to a new weekend, but also because Hubby and I usually plan a fun date night.
We are the stay-at-home date night types. I like being near my kids. If I’m away from them for any length of time, they occupy my mind constantly. I’ve decided it’s entirely futile to have a date night away from home if all I do is think about my kids. When the kids are more around, oh, say 28 then maybe I’ll feel okay about leaving them. <heehee>
For those of you who also stay in on date nights, we put together a list of our favorite movie titles.
Clearplay
In the days before Clearplay, we watched all the black and white classics from the 1940’s, and 50’s. I love the classes! Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Priscilla Lane, Ginger Rogers, Lucille Ball…and so many others. They’re all lovely in my opinion.
Because of Clearplay, we’ve been able to safely venture into more modern day movies. I wouldn’t have watched many of the movies I’ve listed here if it wasn’t for Clearplay.
Clearplay works to clean up the filth they put in today’s movies. Clearplay filters out foul language, violence, nudity, grossness, sensuality, and more. Clearplay is amaaaazing and we love it.
The only cons to Clearplay is that you will notice when a scene has been cut out because the movie skips a section leaving you a little confused. Sometimes too, even though a bad word is muted, you can read their lips. That’s annoying. Clearplay also tends to go hog wild on cutting out all kissing scenes. I think you can adjust your filters to fix that but we haven’t yet.
We are very thankful for Clearplay and what they’ve been able to accomplish through their technology.
I don’t sell Clearplay nor am I an affiliate in any way. I just honestly love them.
Our 30 Favorite Date Night Movies
Everyone has different tastes when it comes to movies so be aware that just because we like these movies, it doesn’t guarantee that you will.
I like a happy ending. I like it when the girl chooses the “right” guy. I like action movies as long as there is a girl in there somewhere. Most of all, I like to laugh. Some of the classics I listed are screwball comedies, meaning they’re ridiculous and my dad would flee from them. So be warned. <heehee>

Healthy Movie Snacks
Movies and snacks go together. They just do.
Our two healthy go to snacks include apple slices and popcorn.
We dress up our apple slices to make them more special.
We peel and slice two apples and then sprinkle cinnamon over them. We also drizzle a bit of honey over the slices. Mmmm, Mmmm!
I got this popcorn recipe from a friend!
For the popcorn, pop some organic popcorn in the microwave and then drizzle it with olive oil or avocado oil. Stir the popcorn to coat all the pieces and shake some celtic sea salt and basil over the top. That’s it!
Date Night Games
We also like to play games!
Our favorite two player games include:
- Yahtzee
- Tetris Link
- Scrabble
- Backgammon
Tetris Link is our newest favorite game. It’s like the old computer game, except it’s more about strategy than speed. It will bring out your competitive spirit. You’ll love it, I promise!
Do you have any stay-at-home date night games, movies, or ideas to share. I’d love to hear them!!
